Amtrak provides rail service to New York City from 15 different locations throughout Tech Valley. The train is also convenient for travel to Montreal, Toronto and Boston. Train service extends as far as Cleveland and Chicago.
New York is also served by more than 30 freight railroads that transport a wide variety of products including automobiles, chemicals, minerals, energy products, lumber, paper and forest products, steel and stone. New York railroads annually transport more than 1.2 billion tons of goods over nearly 83,000 route miles (133,575 km).
