By train, plane or automobile, Tech Valley is located within a short travel time to Montreal, New York City, Philadelphia and Boston. A day’s drive will put you in Baltimore, Cleveland, Toronto or Washington, DC.
Adirondacks/North Country
Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton and Warren Counties including the cities of Plattsburgh and Glens Falls and the villages of Lake George, Lake Placid and Speculator.
Plattsburgh International Airport is the home of Cape Air, Allegiant Air and Myrtle Beach Direct, offering direct flights from the Adirondack/North Country to specific destinations, as well as flights to Boston allowing for worldwide connections. Other major airports are less than one hour away in Montreal and Burlington. Plattsburgh stands on the main line of the Delaware & Hudson Railway, a division of the Canadian-Pacific Railroad linking Montreal and New York City. In addition to freight services, Amtrak’s Adirondack passenger service travels between New York City and Montreal, with a stop in Saratoga Springs. Albany International Airport, meanwhile, is located 50 miles south of Glens Falls and is served by several national and international carriers.
Capital Region
Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Washington Counties including the cities of Albany, Saratoga Springs, Schenectady and Troy and the towns of Bethlehem, Colonie, Guilderland, Greenwich, Mechanicville and Schoharie.
The Capital Region is within a three-hour drive of several major metropolitan areas, including New York City, Boston and Montreal. Albany International Airport provides national and international service to numerous destinations, while the Adirondack Northway (I-87) and New York State Thruway (I-90) provide easy access from Albany to cities and towns throughout the region. Easily accessible by Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) bus or vehicle, the CDTA Rensselaer Rail Station, which opened in September 2002, is the ninth busiest station in the country, serving more than 750,000 people each year.
Hudson Valley
Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange and Ulster Counties including the cities of Hudson, Kingston, Newburgh and Poughkeepsie and the town of New Paltz.
The Hudson Valley is conveniently located between Albany and New York City, making the area a magnet for commuters and businesses alike. Albany International Airport provides national and international service to numerous destinations; while Stewart International Airport is located at Interstates 84 and 87 in Newburgh, offering cost-effective, convenient options for air travel. The New York State Thruway runs throughout the area, making for an easy, direct commute north or south. With Metro North Rail Service and buses, there are several mass transit options into and out of New York City. Plus, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s ferry service from Newburgh across the Hudson River to the train in Beacon facilitates a streamlined commute into Manhattan.
Mohawk Valley
Herkimer, Fulton and Montgomery Counties including the cities of Amsterdam, Gloversville, Herkimer, Johnstown and Little Falls.
Located 30 minutes from Albany, and just a few hours from New York City, Syracuse, Montreal and Boston, Fulton County offers easy access from the New York State Thruway. Montgomery County is ideally located to service all major eastern U.S. and Canadian markets. Located just west of Albany, the county is within 750 miles of more than half of the population of the U.S. and Canada. It is accessible by Route 5 and 5S and by the Thruway from exits 27-29, as well as by scenic Routes 10, 30 and 30A, heading south from the Adirondack State park, and Route 67 from Saratoga. Herkimer County is, likewise, easily accessible from several exits on the Thruway. All three counties within this region are located within an hour of Albany International Airport.
