Venture Capital

Venture capitalists (VC) provide promising businesses with funding, in return for debt or partial ownership of the company. VCs tend to assume more risk than traditional lending institutions like banks.

VC funds are available at different stages of a company’s development and some funds are earmarked to specific industries such as software, biotech, telecommunications, healthcare services, semiconductors and energy.

To find venture capital firms near you, select Venture Capital from the Categories list on the right sidebar and search by region, county or zip code.

VC funds are also available through the state. New York’s economic development agency, Empire State Development, runs the Small Business Technology Investment Fund which offers early stage and growth capital to technology companies.

Also, the New York State Common Retirement Fund's Private Equity Investment Program has expanded the availability of capital for businesses.

Small Business Investment Companies are VC firms licensed by the U.S. Small Business Administration and use their own funds to provide equity capital, long-term loans, debt equity investments and management assistance to small businesses.

Whether you decide on private or public venture capital funds, Tech Valley provides options to obtain financing for your emerging business.
