One of summer’s highlights is the thoroughbred racing season at the Saratoga Race Course. The track draws about one million fans each summer. The Travers Stakes – often dubbed the “Midsummer Derby” – is one the premier events for three-year olds in the country and has showcased such legendary horses like Secretariat, Affirmed and Man O’ War, local favorite Funny Cide and recent stars Point Given and Thunder Gulch.
