TEL to Receive $14M Grant from State

Empire State Development today authorized a $14.28 million grant to Tokyo Electron Limited as part of an overall New York State commitment to provide up to $100 million over a seven-year period to support joint TEL-Albany NanoTech research and development activities at the University at Albany’s College of Nanoscale Science and Technology. To date, $76.72 million has been approved for the project.

TEL, which makes tools used to manufacture microchips, located its only research site outside of Japan at Albany NanoTech in 2003.

Empire State Development is New York’s chief economic development agency, encompassing business, workforce and community development.
