Tech Valley News Patents in Tech Valley on the Rise New patents in the Tech Valley region issued in the second quarter of 2008 (April-June) increased 27 percent over the same time period last year and jumped 36 percent over the previous quarter. Nationally, new patents rose 12 percent over the second quarter of 2007 and eight percent over the previous quarter. The Tech Valley Patent Index – released by Hoffman Warnick LLC, an intellectual property law firm based in Albany – showed 676 new patents issued in the region in the second quarter. “The numbers across the board are at long time highs, which is a pleasant surprise considering the national number is only up a small amount," said Spencer Warnick , partner at Hoffman Warnick LLC.
