World-famous astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, author of "A Brief History of Time," took his first zero-gravity flight six miles above the Earth. The platform Hawking used was custom-built by WCW Inc., a company based in Tech Valley that creates high-tech, air-filled mattresses. Hawking – who suffers from Lou Gehrig's disease – needed to be able to lie on a mattress that would diffuse the g-forces during the flight.
