Bob Dylan Readies for Tour in Tech Valley

Bob Dylan and his band rehearsed at the Bardavon 1869 Opera House in Poughkeepsie from March 20-24 as they prepared for their European tour which launched this week in Sweden.

The Bardavon – a former Vaudeville theater – is one of Dylan’s favorite places to practice as the rock and folk music icon rehearsed there for about a week in February 2006. During that session, Dylan rehearsed and wrote songs for his most-recent album, “Modern Times” which was released in August 2006.

The Bardavon’s Executive Director, Chris Silva, said Dylan and the band rehearsed in 3-4 hour stretches without a break. He said Dylan played acoustic and electric guitars and keyboards.

Silva also said that Dylan – a former Woodstock resident – told him that he would return.

Bardavon’s stage has featured great performers from all eras including Mark Twain, John Philip Sousa, Frank Sinatra, Milton Berle, Tommy Dorsey, Dizzy Gillespie, Greg Allman, James Earl Jones, Harry Belafonte and many others.
