Tech Valley Cities Among Best Performing
Tech Valley cities have made a signifcant presence in the latest Milken Institute and Site Selection rankings of the best performing metros in the United States.
The Milken study is based on job growth, wages and salaries growth and high tech sector output.
Among the best performing large metros, Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown ranked 48th (fourth among Northeastern cities), up from 61st in 2005. Albany-Schenectady-Troy placed 66th (sixth in the Northeast), posting the tenth biggest jump among large cities from the previous ranking.
Among the best performing small cities, Glens Falls placed 50th and Kingston came in at 100. Both ranked near the top for high tech business output.
Plattsburgh placed seventh in Site Selection's Top Micropolitan Areas. The listing recognizes those communities of 50,000 people or fewer for their ability to secure new and expanded corporate facility projects. This marks the eighth year in a row Plattsburgh appears in the top ten.
