Tech Valley Chamber Coalition Adds Member

The Mechanicville/Stillwater Area Chamber of Commerce has joined the Tech Valley Chamber Coalition, which now includes 24 chambers of commerce from the 18 counties that make up the rapidly expanding high-tech region of New York state.

Collectively, the coalition represents more than 21,000 businesses and organizations throughout Tech Valley that employ more than 500,000 individuals.

The Mechanicville/Stillwater Chamber includes nearly 100 member businesses that employ approximately 4,000 individuals.

“We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to become a part of the Tech Valley Chamber Coalition,” said Sharon Zappola, a director of the Mechanicville/Stillwater Chamber. “The addition of our chamber to this outstanding economic initiative will serve to further its mission of jointly promoting the assets and advantages that exist in the Tech Valley region.”

“The Tech Valley Chamber Coalition continues to expand its reach and presence throughout the 18-county region that encompasses Tech Valley,” said Lyn Taylor, president of the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce and marketing chair of the coalition. “We look forward to working with the members of the Mechanicville/Stillwater Area Chamber of Commerce in our efforts to continue the promotion of the region as the place to live, work and play.”

The Tech Valley Chamber Coalition was launched June 27, 2002 by the Albany-Colonie Chamber, Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce and The Chamber of Schenectady County.

The promotion of the region as Tech Valley, a term that was coined by the Albany-Colonie Chamber in March 1998, involves a number of initiatives aimed at marketing the area as a location with prime business opportunities and a superior quality of life.

The effort includes each chamber making use of the Tech Valley logo and the positioning statement “Serving New York’s Tech Valley” on collateral materials. The marketing effort also includes support of complementary regional events, such as the Summit in Tech Valley; development of supporting materials, including the annual Images of New York’s Tech Valley magazine; and the Tech Valley Portal Web site, which can be found at www.techvalley.org.

The Tech Valley Portal, a collaborative effort of the coalition, represents an unprecedented example of regional cooperation and collaboration and is designed to promote the area’s quality of life and economic vitality. Among its features are high-end graphics and interactive components that reflect the energy generated by the region’s emerging technology economy and tremendous quality of life.
