The City of Plattsburgh will play host to 10 fishing tournaments in 2006.

Champlain Shores in the Adirondacks Visitors and Convention Bureau Director Michele Powers told The Press Republican that "you come to understand how wonderful these waters are for bass fishing."

Among the highlights: All of these events will take place on Lake Champlain near Plattsburgh.

The Bassmasters Elite Series event is called the Champion's Choice tournament, as Lake Champlain was the destination that the bass fishing champions chose.

Bassmasters Tournament Manager Chris Bowes told The Press Republican that Lake Champlain "is well-known throughout the world of recreational and tournament fishing for its numbers and quality of fish, its tremendous scenery and the wonderful people up there in New York and Vermont."
